Scouts go SCUBA diving at AndarkIMGP1883

The Scouts had an exciting finish to the end of term when they went SCUBA diving. They were put through their paces by Andark Diving who taught them the basics of SCUBA diving.

Jacob told me more:

We learnt that to keep our masks on we had to suck in through our noses so that the mask would tighten on our faces. Once under water the pressure of the water held our masks in place. Also we mustn't hold our breath when using the breathing apparatus, just breathe normally.

We learnt a few hand signals (some of which can be seen in the photos) such as "thumbs up" - go up, "thumbs down" - go down, "shake hand from side to side" - I'm in trouble, and "ok sign with our hand" - I'm OK!

You must keep a regular check on the amount of air you have left - if the indicator goes in to the red bar on the gauge you must come up to the surface.
