Beavers games, pond dipping and IT
The Beavers started the autumn programme of events with a games evening. Having already bid farewell to a number of Beavers as they continue their Scouting journey onto Cubs, the colonies welcomed bright new faces into their respective lodges. After a relaxed introduction that involved the Beavers sharing their summer holiday adventures, a litter sweep of the surrounding park followed, the evening culminating with a game if inter lodge rounders.
Wellington Boots and nets were required for the following meeting as we all set off on a ‘Pond Dipping’ adventure to the nearby Moors. With the assistance of Willow’s invaluable Wildlife book a number of bugs, crane flies and fish were a constant source of fascination. However, the Beavers most notable experience was the challenge of trudging back to the Scout Hut with boots full of water. Thankfully there were no reports of trench foot!
September finished with an IT theme; the first part of the Beavers work towards their IT badge. This was a varied evening involving an overview of IT, coupled with a Beaver quiz and a dam building (and demolishing) exercise! The gathering culminated with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ to two lucky Beavers – the Leaders are still wondering what happened to the birthday cakes!
