Beavers in October

beavers logoBeavers in October: IT, first aid and bell ringing

October began with the 2nd Stage of the IT badge. The task was to design a poster advertising the many varied and fun aspects of Beavers. Needless to say, numerous interesting works of art evolved; a couple even depicted dinosaurs and crocodiles!

The following week the focus was on First Aid; our guest speaker presented the Beavers with an informed insight into the basics of First Aid. This involved audience participation providing the Beavers with an opportunity to gain practical experience of ‘First Aid’ situations, from initial discovery of the patient to calling the Emergency Services. Many thanks to the First Responders.

Prior to half term, bell ringing was the final agenda item. The Beavers were divided into 2 groups; whilst one visited St. Peter’s Tower, the other completed a ‘photographic hunt’ around the churchyard, the aim being to find Maple!  The Beavers thoroughly enjoyed the evening which was a fantastic opportunity to embrace the historical significance of St Peter’s and gain a ‘behind the scenes’ appreciation of campanology. The evening culminated with us bidding farewell to Maple. After 2 years of loyal service Maple has moved on with many happy memories of Bishop’s Waltham Beavers. Maple, many thanks for all of your hard work and of course the chocolate brownies, they were delicious!
