News from all the sections in 1st Bishops Waltham Scout Group.

The Scouts started the term with a games evening which warmed them up ready to take part in "Gunners Krypton Factor" the following week. Each patrol completed four rounds requiring logic, observation, general knowledge and fitness.
The logic round required them to recreate an object upstairs which could only be seen by one team member downstairs, by relaying information from one Scout to the next. Some of the results showed just how tricky this is.
In the observation round the teams watched a film clip and then answered a series of questions about it.
The general knowledge round certainly got them thinking with questions ranging from music to maths; and just to keep them on their toes they also had to complete an obstacle course racing under tarpaulins and over and under logs in hope of being the quickest team to finish.
At the end points were awarded and the overall positions declared, but the most important thing was that the Scouts had worked as a team in their patrols by combining their own personal skills. The end result was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Malak and Hawkeye Beavers started the term with games evenings. They went futuristic playing games such as meteors.
They have also made model boats using corks, and one week had some unusual visitors; snakes and ferrets. The snakes and ferrets brought along their owner and let him explain to the Beavers how he cares for them.

Diamond Pack started their Global Challenge Badge. The Cubs have been finding out about International Scouting and recycling, and for their international charity they took part in a sponsored "eat something funny for money" event to raise money for Comic Relief. They were set various tasks such as eating baked beans and spaghetti with chopsticks and being fed jelly by a blindfolded friend who was given instructions by a third Cub. They also had their own comedy club performing jokes and sketches to the rest of the pack.
Wolf Pack Cubs have been working on their Air Activity and Astronomer Badges. As part of their Air activity Badge they made and launched hot air balloons in the Scout Hut. The Cubs also made paper gliders and had a competition to see which one had the best accuracy and whose would travel the furthest. For their Astronomer Badge they were quite ambitious and built the solar system!

Congratulations to Harry Bolton of Wolf Pack, who achieved the Chief Scout Silver Award. This is the highest award a Cub Scout can achieve.
